An elderly woman stepped inside, her silver hair pulled back in a tidy bun, revealing timeworn features that spoke of wisdom and kindness. She cradled a small child in her arms, both of them dressed in simple, everyday clothing. The child wore a green sweater adorned with playful animal ears and a tail. Still, his face was hidden shyly against the woman’s neck, suggesting a reluctance to engage with the unfamiliar surroundings.
“Excuse me,” the woman called out, her voice steady yet tinged with concern. “I’m looking for a detective.”
Kunikida, who had just finished his work ahead of schedule, noticed her and instinctively rose from his desk. With a polite demeanor, he approached the pair. “How may the Armed Detective Agency assist you, ma'am?” he inquired, his tone professional yet warm.
