*I’m writing this with the perspective that Bakugou has bilateral hearing loss, which means that he has lost most of his hearing in both ears. In this story, he does have hearing aids, but doesn’t rely on them all the time. He does vocalize sometimes without them, because folks who lose hearing later in life can sometimes still control their volume fairly well. If I’m not describing how his voice sounds or haven’t mentioned specifically that he’s wearing the hearing aids, then when he speaks I’m referring to him using sign language.*

Lena’s eyes widen a little. “What’s that?”
“Are you a big spoon or a little spoon?”
It’s a question she’s like, ninety-five percent sure she already knows the answer to, but asking it is worth it just to see Lena roll her eyes and shove at Kara’s arm, as if she’d genuinely been expecting her to ask a really serious question.
“Big, obviously,” she says, but not even ten minutes later, Kara finds herself with her arms engulfing Lena’s tiny body, chin resting in the junction between her shoulder and neck, blissfully happy.
