The boy, whose decidedly unfascinating name was apparently Daniel Molloy, had been in the apartment on Divisadero Street for approximately 36 hours. Armand had cleaned most of his blood– which had stained the walls and the floor and ruined the rug in the living room– with rags and jugs of cleaning fluid and rubber gloves. It had taken hours, but he’d sort of welcomed the task, something to push against the prevailing boredom. Louis had stopped screaming, though that was surely only temporary. Armand felt like someone had sucked all the will out of him with a plastic straw. He was angry, and exhausted, too tired to even bother seriously fucking with the pathetic thing sitting in a lump under the dining room table.
