Summary
“Johnny Cash?” Foggy asks, holding up a record cover in earnest. “Didn’t take you for a cowboy.”
“I’ll be whatever they want if it helps me finish the essay.”
The blond laughs, and the timbre of it reverberates in Matt’s chest.
They spend a few moments like that, side by side. Listening to Foggy sort through the pile of music that’s steadily been growing next to his bed. Matt tries his hardest not to lean closer, and feel the warmth roiling off his friend like a furnace.
Since when did they become friends?
Foggy breaks the silence, humming deep in thought. Seems like he couldn’t find anything either.
“Maybe you just haven’t found the right inspiration?” He posits, glancing back.
Matt sighs. Softly this time. “If I fail this class, I’ll know more musical terminology than I ever needed to. Or wanted to.”
Foggy chuckles under his breath. It’s a warm sound, and it fills the room like a symphony. He tucks a strand of blond hair behind his ear.------
