When Ace is captured, the Whitebeard crew rush to save him, moving as fast as they can to stop him from being executed. Marco is one of the most involved, mother hen that he is, and finds that worrying about his brothers leads him to someone surprising.
What he and most of the crew don't know, is that Ace and Sabo have another older brother, one who will stop at nothing to help them. Monkey D. Luffy joins the battle with a bang, changing the tides of war and saving Ace with the help of Marco and his crew. Marco is immediately enamored with the man and finds himself being dragged into things he never thought possible. Luffy brings him along as he endeavors to change the world and rule over it as the King of Pirates.

Summary
The East Blue was a destination no one would have expected them to choose. It was also the only place they could go to in order to be safe. The flimsy piece of paper leading Wani flickered in their palm, tugging onward, forward. As if trying to confirm the choice was the right one.
Blue would help. Blue had to help. Wani had to trust the bonds they had forged together in their youth had not sundered throughout the years, even if Wani had not been able to be there for either Blue or Red when Roger died. Even if Whitebeard had denied them any help he could have offered, chained Wani in the brig to make sure they would not go seeking Blue or Red out.
Wani had to hope Blue would believe them they had at least tried.

Summary
In another timeline, Portgas D. Ace would live alone with the bandits until Luffy was thrust into his life. He would never have met Red and Blue of the Roger Pirates, only Buggy as a test to get through the East Blue and Shanks when he went to thank him for saving his brother. He died thinking he didn't deserve to live.
This is not said timeline.
Shanks receives a request to head to the Grey Terminal for Makino to pick up a small shipment of rum, and in doing so he comes upon a young boy asking about the child of the Pirate King.
