Summary
Kaveh and Alhaitham embark on a mission to steal the classified records of the mysterious herb in the KFC spice blend.
Spoiler alert: it's homosexuality.
Distraction number one: that damn corset.
For the thousandth time that night, Alhaitham forced his eyes not to linger on the delicate strings of the bodice cinching Kaveh’s small waist.
“Haitham.”
Glancing up at Kaveh’s expectantly raised eyebrow beneath the cut of his mask, Alhaitham muttered, "What?”
“I said we should probably dance if we don’t want to look suspicious,” Kaveh said slowly, eyeing him with a mix of concern and skepticism. “Are you sure you’re okay? You aren’t usually this distracted.”

Summary
Twenty-four days.
That’s how long it had been. Not nearly as long as it had felt, twenty-four days Kaveh spent his days alone in Alhaitham’s house, ghosts of Alhaitham’s presence lingering next to all the dust.

Summary
“You’re acting odd.”
It is Kaveh, not Alhaitham, who says such a thing a week later over breakfast. Alhaitham does not look up from his book but does offer a muted ‘hm’ as a response. Apparently, it is unsatisfactory to Kaveh, who crowds his space and nudges at the offending object.
Alhaitham sees Kaveh collecting flowers one morning on his way to work. Alhaitham, despite his own good sense, assumes the worst. Eventually, they get there together.

Summary
For all of Kaveh’s impetuousness, for all of his ridiculous romantic notions, Alhaitham can’t help but enjoy Kaveh because he knows him. Kaveh feels like a language he speaks well, at this point.
Which is why Alhaitham is shocked when he sees a new expression on Kaveh’s face. A dust of pink on his cheeks, lips upturned into a shy smile as he looks down and back up...
He's curious about that expression. He wants to see it again.Alhaitham sets out on a quest to make Kaveh smile at him. He underestimates the challenge.

Summary
Years. It has been years, yet it could’ve been yesterday they were sitting side by side, thigh to thigh, eye to eye, filled with a contentment that their future selves have lost. Maybe it would be enough to have that again. Maybe correctness has no place here—has never been the ultimate goal between them—and Alhaitham finds himself asking a very different question than intended.
“How would you like to come home?”
✥
Alhaitham loathes interruptions. (All except one).
