Summary
“À quoi penses-tu?”
Kevin dragged his hands away so they folded over his mouth and eyed Neil pointedly.
Neil’s responding look was incredulous. Briefly, he switched back to English. “What? Aaron?”

Summary
"This was it. This was going to redefine the past three years Kevin had been making his place in the Minyards’ lives. He was going to either do something incredible or he was going to fuck this up so bad even all Andrew’s deals and promises wouldn’t be able to save him. When Aaron turned to walk up the stairs toward his room, Kevin forced himself to swallow the knot in his throat. And he followed. "

Summary
Security was a concept Aaron was familiar with but did not deem himself often worthy of. It was the feeling of being safe and allowing the possibility of the rug being pulled from beneath you to happen. He'd grown used to feeling secure with Katleyn, it was a feeling reemerging with Andrew and it was one crashing into him when it came to Kevin.
Kevin and his soft hair, bright eyes and that damn mouth.

Summary
“Aaron Minyard,” Allison said in a dramatic tone. “Truth or dare?”
Aaron rolled his eyes. “Dare.”
Kevin wasn't surprised. He knew Aaron would prefer to do a stupid dare instead of telling a single thing about himself.
“I dare you,” she paused, making suspense, “to spend seven minutes in heaven with Kevin.”

Summary
Aaron is very aware of how human Kevin is, in that he doesn’t buy into the myth and legend and knows the man too well to put him on a pedestal. But it’s a step further here. When Kevin dances, he looks like he’s still figuring it out. He looks like what he is: twenty years old, trying his best, wanting to feel something else for a moment.
Or maybe Aaron’s just projecting.
“You said you wanted to dance,” Kevin says, and Aaron’s eyes snap back to his face. They hadn’t strayed very far; just down the line of Kevin’s body, watching the way he moved. It’s the freedom, Aaron thinks. Like when Kevin dances, it’s because he wants to do it more than he wants to be good at it. There aren’t many things he can say that about, when it comes to Kevin Day.
He’s here. He’s alive, and Andrew is alive, and Nicky is alive, and Kevin and Katelyn and Wymack and Abby. And Matt and Randy; the girls too. Even Neil.
All these people are alive, even if they’re not okay. And Drake is dead. And Aaron made that happen.
—it's the end of the year, all of kevin’s usual dogs are gone, and aaron has a lot to think about.
