Sometimes the people recruited at the Muster would return to their village. They were always different - colder, more authoritarian. Skillful recruits became soldiers and some, like Jimin’s father, would just disappear. Working in the provinces was strenuous, but being drafted was worse. So when Jimin had presented as an omega, he and his grandmother were relieved, not only because it meant that his chances of being drafted were slimmer, but also because up until then, it had been unclear what he would present as.
