A father, Grigori, who helped his family escape after the fall of the Soviet Union and who worked his ass off to make his immigrant family happy in Montreal? A mother, Irina, who helped manage Ilya's rise to the NHL to become the prodigy he is? Or even his brother, Andrei, who was the supportive big brother that gave him the confidence to try anything?
What if the first time they meet is the night of the 2009 NHL draft, and... What if they fall in love again anyway, and come to face and conquer the NHL and its homophobia?
This story is a retelling of heated Rivalry, with Shane and Ilya living each other's lives, coming to love each other, and with the power of Queer Joy, have a different happily ever after than they did in the original story.

Summary
Shane never drank. He hated the taste of the alcohol and the lingering buzzy feeling that was felt when he had a bit too much. However, that buzzy feeling and bitter taste didn't stop him from drowning in his feelings with all different bottles of hard alcohol laid out in front of him in his hotel room.

Summary
For one brief second, Ilya thinks Hollander is going to stop, step out of the walkway, say something. Do anything.
Ilya's hand twitches at his side, absurdly, like it's waiting for a handshake that has not happened yet. Like it's preparing for the contact.
Instead, Hollander gives him the smallest half-nod, barely there, and walks into the arena.
OR: One bad World Juniors drops Ilya Rozanov to sixth overall in the draft and Shane Hollander goes first. Rozanov decides he’s going to spend his career proving the league wrong. What he doesn’t plan on is becoming fixated on Hollander in the process. On the way he plays, the way he watches Rozanov right back. Somewhere along the way, it stops being about the league’s attention and starts being about keeping Hollander’s.
