Post S3, a Nix-mageddon, Second Goings... as it were

“Hello Crowley.” He stopped in his tracks, dropping the water bottle and his mat in the process. All of the tiny fine hairs on the back of his neck stood raised at attention like little soldiers. Like the little soldier he was all those years ago.

“Your Darkness,” he said, curtsying but not yet turning around. Please let him look normal, please no hooves and horns. He heard the footsteps approaching. Totally human, thoroughly hoofless.

“I didn’t mean to startle you,” Lucifer said, picking up the water bottle as Crowley went for his mat. He stood up to the piercing blue eyes in front of him.

“You look good, fit, these years have treated you well.” He handed the water bottle to Crowley, who took it with apprehension. “Oh, don’t look at me like that, such surprise and horror. This is a friendly meeting, I pose you no harm. When have I ever lied to you?”Oh, let’s see, it’s just a little parade, just a march really, a protest, nothing too serious. Work conditions not what we want, what about us, don’t angels have rights, too….

“I can’t recall.” Crowley hoped he sounded as confident as he wanted to.

    “Good, walk with me.”

Oh, let’s see, it’s just a little parade, just a march really, a protest, nothing too serious. Work conditions not what we want, putting so much into those new “people”, what about us, don’t angels have rights, too….

    In which journals are found

One of Crowley’s eyes. This is the one that stopped him. The others were deniable; meditations on the same object, no different than a still life with fruit. They were just ‘a hand’. But this one was different. There were creases in the corners of these eyes. This was not him mad, or aloof or negligent, or a million other expressions that he tried so hard to keep on his face- the mask a demon must wear. This was him content. This was him satisfied, comfortable. This was the him that only Aziraphale saw and no one, no one else.

    Summary

A chapter from my larger work that can stand alone as a one-shot.

“You’ve had trimmings before, but you’ve never had,” and Crowley pointed as he spoke, “that.” Aziraphale stammered but Crowley continued.

“Angel, who… did you, are you courting someone?” This was not at all what Aziraphale had anticipated.

“Oh No! No. There’s nothing like, I’ve never had… I just, just hung it a moment before you arrive!” Crowley raised an eyebrow, then looked back at the offending plant, slowly creeping towards it.

“Then why now?” Aziraphale’s face grew hot as Crowley’s voice grew desperate.

“No one, there is no one. It was just… it’s silly. I thought- ..festive!! No, hmmm, I’ll just take it down, I didn’t mean to upset you.”
