He didn’t want to go out on such a night but the milk hadn’t been delivered and Ms. Stonewall always took her tea with milk and god forbid Ms. Stonewall doesn’t get something she wants.

Summary
“You really couldn’t ask?” she shifts closer, away from the darkness.
“Coward, remember?” he says, casually. Words die before they could reach her throat, an inferno of acid rises instead. He continues, “Sometimes…I might need a little push.”
She blinks, wide eyes searching his face. His eyes open slightly, his gaze fixed on their joined hands.
His image starts blending at the edges, a watercolor painting made from memory. She swallows her tears whole, but her broken, ragged voice gives everything way and cuts into his skin.
“I don’t want you to hate me. I don’t—” her eyes seal, driving the words out, driving the longing on his face out. “I don’t want to get hurt.”
