Best Song Ever Fest is a Seventeen jukebox style fest where all the fics are inspired by a song in One Direction's discography.

Participants are encouraged to write a Seventeen fic of any length (must be longer than 1,000 words) with a One Direction song featured in their writing. This can mean general inspiration, direct plot references, specific lyrics, etc. Multiple participants can choose one song from the list of songs. This includes some "unofficial" songs but excludes any solo releases or songs performed during the xfactor.

This fest is low pressure - meaning just have fun, don't stress, and write whatever you feel like writing!

This fest will also feature an anonymous posting period and a reveal day (mostly because the mods think secrets are exciting).

Claiming: March 6-12, 2022

First Check-In: April 16, 2022

Second Check-In: May 21, 2022

Fics Due In Collection: June 10, 2022

Anonymous Posting Begins: June 17, 2022

Reveals: June 26, 2022

Q: Can I participate if I'm not really a One Direction fan?

A: Of course! The mods won't be quizzing you on One Direction history (unless you really want us to). If there's a song you like and a fic you want to write, we would love for you to join.

Q: Can I claim more than one song?

A: Yes! Please make sure you fill out the google form once for each song you will be claiming.

Q: Can I please, please write a fic based off a Harry Styles song?

A: For this round, unfortunately no. We're sticking to only the songs on our list. No solo songs this time.

Q: How much inspiration should I take from the song I choose?

A: It is entirely up to you. You can follow the plot of the lyrics down to the letter or use the song as the general vibe of the fic. Whatever you want to do, or how much you want to feature the song in your work, is up to your judgement.

Q: What if I want to drop out or I need an extension?

A: Just email the mods at [email protected] and let us know! We understand!

Q: AH! I have more questions, what should I do?

A: Email us! We also have our twitter with open DMs and our retrospring. All three will be checked regularly.

1. fics must be anonymous until reveals
2. 1,000 word count minimum and no word count maximum
3. multiple claims for one song are OK
4. song changes after sign-ups are allowed, just email the mods
5. must be a song from the discography list
6. chaptered wips are OK
7. any seventeen pairing (no crossovers, but other idols are allowed as secondary pairings or background characters)
8. any rating
9. archive warnings are allowed EXCEPT rape/non-con or underage (aka NO T and above rated fics about minors)
10. tag appropriately, mods will be reviewing work for tags so everyone can be safe
