Maybe in another lifetime (or: 5 conversations that Tim and Jon never had +1 they do) by Banashee

Summary
They used to be so close, once upon a time, but working in the archives together had ruined everything - absolutely everything.
Another, much smaller, but very hopeful part of Tim thinks that maybe, just maybe, this time they could rescue what’s left of their friendship. He’s certainly willing to try, if he’ll get the chance.
This, in itself, is much more than he’d been willing to do weeks ago. And here he is, holding the hand of a friend he’d started to resent despite the ever remaining love he’d held - and still holds - in his heart.Maybe, in another lifetime, things might have turned out differently.
“If wishes were horses we’d be drowning in horeshit.” he tells Jon, who neither agrees or disagrees - he simply remains unconscious, just like he’s been ever since the explosion in the wax museum.-

Summary
The Archivist keeps telling him there is nothing left of Jon inside of it, but Martin never believed that. Not really. And if it truly wants to convince him, it really should come up with an original story or two instead of the derivative tripe it keeps forcing him to endure. It only makes it easier to find the pieces of Jon left behind, anyway.
Martin is tired of unhappy endings, and only he seems to understand that fate is only a story itself. It can be rewritten, reborn, regrown as well.

Summary
Martin crawled back into bed like he’d crawled through the burned-flesh hole in his heart, and knew he still loved Jon.
Martin knew Jon loved him, too.
Jon had thrown away godhood for him, like it hadn’t mattered.
Maybe it hadn’t.
Jon loved him, and that meant they could fix this.
All Jon had to do was wake up.

Summary
When Jon gets out of the Buried, Martin is there waiting for him. And good thing, too, since apparently sacrificing parts of yourself for others have consequences.
But how big of a difference can someone being there make? And can shared pain lead to healing?Or is Jon too far gone to do anything other than take?

Summary
Jon looks up, meets his eyes and tries for a soft smile. “I can’t wait to see what you bring home.”
“I guess it’ll be a surprise, then,” Martin laughs, squeezing Jon’s hand before letting go. He mirrors Jon’s smile. “They’ve got those little packets of seeds down in the village. I’ll, uh, see what speaks to me.”
“And here I thought we were free of terrors. Talking plants, oh my—”
“You know what I meant!” Martin lightly swings the dishcloth in Jon’s direction, brushing against his cheek with a fwap.
“I do, I do. If some conversational rosemary is the most we have to worry about anymore, I’d call that a victory.”
Jon’s never been much good with plants. Or people. Or himself. He’s no gardener, and he knows it. But in spite of it all, an idea takes root, and Jon finds the strength to nurture new growth. All it takes is some time, some sunshine, and some love.
Or, Jon, plants, and trying again.
