Summary
Maybe Steve’s hallucinating. Maybe he’s fallen down the cellar steps and cracked his head open because this can’t be happening. Billy is dead. Steve watched him die. But here he is, alive and in Steve’s cellar and making a joke like he didn’t get stabbed by a monster tentacle and isn’t pale and shaky and barely standing, face and hair smeared with mud.

Summary
“We’re hanging out tonight - that new cop movie and then dinner.”
From the corner of his eye, Steve can see Billy look at him questioningly, then back to Nancy. “You and... Steve?”
“And Jonathan,” Nancy adds on for him, smiling a little. Steve doesn’t even have to be looking at him to know Billy’s got his brow furrowed in confusion. “You should come, too.”
This is not normal Nancy behavior, Steve’s realizing. Because she’s civil, like Billy is, but more in clipped words and short interactions. She never liked him too much to begin with. But now she’s smiling and being friendly - this is very, very not normal.

Summary
Valentines Day, 1993 begins and ends exactly the way Steve thought it would: on the couch with Billy, a joint and a pint of ale passing like a cloud between them as they watch whatever slasher flick is playing on pay-per-view.
The stuff in the middle, though, changes everything.
(or) the one where Billy doesn't know how to change a flat tire.

Summary
“Stay with me.”
Steve’s heart is beating in his eyeballs.
The world falls silent. Only for a moment, as long as it takes for Billy to drop something on the ground and then swear under his breath. His voice shakes, like strands in the wind. “What?”
“At my apartment,” Steve clarifies. He untangles the phone chord which has somehow worked its way to his elbow. “It’s small and shitty, and the couch only has three legs, but.”
Steve closes his eyes and hopes against hope, praying to every god who has ever existed since the beginning of time and everyone who will come after, that Billy can hear every meaning, every hidden word.
“You could.” Steve says softly. “If you wanted to.”

Summary
Billy had been through a lot of unexpected shit in the last few years.
And ok, maybe the whole monster possession thing was at the top of the list.
But Steve Harrington sitting beside his bed, reading a copy of Teen Beat and tapping the toe of his Nike against the highly polished hospital floor?
Well that. That was a pretty close second.
