Everything about Nancy seemed determined, from the self-assured way her feet hit the ground to the expression on her face. In contrast, Robin felt incredibly awkward, and warm all over, just like she had when Nancy had suggested she borrow her clothes for their earlier disguise, and her heart was beating about a thousand miles a minute, but that could just be because of her incredibly distressing surroundings, so it would be best not to think about this, whatever this is, especially given the Steve of it all.

Nancy and Robin spent a lot of time walking together in the Upside Down that the writers conveniently cut away from. This is what was going on during all that time.
