Summary
It was a dark and stormy night. The cityscape beyond was painted dark, the rain and occasional streak of lightning making the usual drab buildings at this end of downtown— all Brutalism and harsh concrete— look glossy from the water seeping down their concrete facades, the flashes from the lightning highlighting the glass windows. The storm had come out of seemingly nowhere; it had been clear earlier in the afternoon and there hadn't been any storms on the forecast.
Nightbolt didn't exactly prefer it that way, but it certainly made it easier when it came to patrolling. This was the kind of weather that no one liked to be out in, whatever their affiliation was- and even less if they had none.
Right now, that was exactly the way they wanted it to be. It was good weather to think in, without having to worry about interruptions or others.
Things had been so much easier a few months ago, but they had been hiding an even bigger secret than the usual kind for a long while now, and that made everything all the more difficult.
