He could go around to his left, but then Cody will know the tattoo bothers him, and he doesn’t want that. It’s a stupid game. Cody already knows.
“Sit down or fuck off,” Cody says, conversationally. “I’ve had enough Rebels looming threateningly over me this week.”

Cody rounds on Rex. One step is all it takes to trap him, Cody in front of him, the fire burning at his back, endless sky above them. “Don’t you fucking dare act like you want this more than I do.” Rex is all he’s ever wanted.
Rex is a kinder man than he is, but his temper is icy. It builds slower and grips harder. “Don’t I? You’re the one who keeps leaving.”
