Summary
He’s stopped by the lack of anything in the eyes of the boy in front of him, he’s young by mortal standards and so, so new by Foolish’s own. Yet there’s so much missing in his expression, so much stolen away. His gaze is dead but Foolish knows what it’s hiding. He’s seen Tubbo collapse into a mess of fear and anxiety, he’s heard Ranboo whisper assurances of safety that Foolish can tell he doesn’t even believe himself.
So he stays.

"So, how are you, Tubbo?"
Tubbo knows this song and dance by heart. Tommy asks how people are doing when he's stressed or anxious, and Tubbo never tells anyone how he's really doing under any circumstances. It's an exchange that gets them nowhere, but they do it anyway.
Tubbo plays his part. "I'm okay, I'm okay."
His tone is light, nonchalant. Normally, this is a signal for Tommy to move on - either to bring up the thing he actually wants to talk about, or to start spouting nonsense to let Tubbo know he just doesn't want any silence.
This time, though, Tommy frowns at him.
