Upon hearing the series of loud knocks, the king felt a rushed surge of hope course through his exhausted body. He whipped his head to the side, ready to alarm his guards, completely forgetting why he hadn't tried this sooner. The moment he averted his attention from the assassin, the latter immediately crossed the distance between them before kicking him in the knee. Momentarily blindsided by the sudden outburst of pain, the king's posture crumbled, and he lost his balance, falling directly into the assassin's hold. That allowed him the perfect opportunity to press the sharp blade of his dagger back to the king's neck, the weapon just a hair short of cutting the delicate skin.
Seokjin mentally prepared himself for his immediate demise, as he made sure to look the assassin straight in the eye, determined to die with as much dignity as one can while only wearing underwear.
