“What.. What about me then?" He finally manages to choke out.
Regulus closes his eyes tightly as he answers, his chest going up and down with slow breathing. “I would still look for you. Everywhere and anywhere. When I find you, finally, I will choose you. Then, I'll fall in love with you."
“You'll choose me? Even when you could have a better life?"
Regulus smiles warmly then, eyes closing and rosy lips twitching. Even though it’s a smile, James can read the sadness behind it. He has spent years studying every curve and line of Regulus's expressions.
“You are my better life, James." he says, softly.
Or maybe, it’s another story about Regulus Black and James Potter—two people trying their hardest to stay apart, only to realise they can’t.
So instead, they fall in love. A love that’s followed by jealousy, betrayal, frustration, and the inevitable heartbreak.
