Oh. Wow.
Hanbin isn’t sure if it’s a mistake or not, so he waits for a second to see if his screen will go dark again.
It doesn’t. His phone buzzes between sweaty fingers, insistent.
Hanbin picks up, something swooping in his gut. “Hello?” Taerae never calls him. They text, sure, but Hanbin mostly gets Taerae updates through the other trainees. It feels weird, texting him. Calling him is even weirder.
There’s a few seconds where all Hanbin can hear is loud background noises. It sounds like Taerae is in a crowded restaurant or something. There’s a breath, hushed, and then Taerae says, “Hi, can’y’hear me?”

“Tell me, how do you like it in bed?” Zhang Hao hums, giggles when Hanbin’s whole body stiffens. The phraseology reeks of a non-native speaker and the longer Hanbin sits there the more he convinces himself he’s hearing things.
Or, Hanbin comes to the conclusion he will lose to Zhang Hao fairly early on.

Criminally underrated (pun intended). My favorite fic of all time and one I'll continue to reread every couple of months—each time it's like I'm enjoying it for a new reason. Not to be dramatic but I've literally grown up with this work of art. It’s been over two years since I first stumbled upon WTLAD and nothing tops it. Gorgeous! Prose! There are several lines that I desperately want to tattoo into my brain and carry around forever. I guess the main reason why I love this so much and have such a deep emotional connection with it is because I see myself in all the most vulnerable, messiest parts of Taemin and Kai. And this fic gives me hope that things can actually turn out okay. Truly can't articulate how much the characters and story mean to me, very very glad that WTLAD exists <3
