Summary
Cruz’s hand grabbed the man’s shoulder, yanking him away from the circle that had surrounded him. His gun was gone, no doubt confiscated by another member of his team or one of the training staff. She threw him to the ground and laid into him. She didn’t know for how long, or how hard she punched, or even if she said anything. All Cruz knew was one second, she was above a man with a pretty face, and the next Joe and Bobby were pulling her away from a broken and bloody face.
Bobby was shouting something, probably trying to get Cruz’s attention but her ears were ringing with the sound of Josie’s scream. Her vision was red, either from rage or blood, she was unsure.
Her cheek suddenly stung. Cruz looked up, her eyes settled on those of her commander.
“Cruz,” Joe shouted, “Cruz, I need you to fucking focus on me, marine.”
