Summary
Atsushi and Akutagawa reconvene after the Decay of Angels saga, training under Dazai’s watchful eye. Things are different between them, and although Atsushi doesn't quite know how to address the whole "dying for each other" thing, it doesn't feel right to go back to their old hostility either. Although things are occasionally tense between reunited mentor and mentee Dazai and Akutagawa, the duo is making solid improvements. They even start bonding outside of training, and Atsushi finds that he's fascinated by the glimpses he gets into the softer side of Akutagawa. However, after a training incident, everything changes, and it's up to Atsushi to close the distance between himself and his unusual partner.

Akutagawa was bit by a radioactive spider as a child. His body changed, too monstrous to be human, too human to be a monster. Pain and aches become his normal with the retractable sets of arms and eyes, but being a “normal” member of society wasn’t exactly an option for him or even Gin by association. During the day, he’s a barista and during the night, whatever jobs Chuuya can give him, from deliveries to assassinations, and the side of vigilantism. Akutagawa has to balance it all. It’s not new, he has a routine, a life, a route.Of course, that all falls to shit when a new rookie interrupts Akutagawa’s life. He wants nothing to do with that guy.

Summary
Joining the ADA was the best thing to happen to Atsushi Nakajima but the last three years have put the weretiger through the wringer. He loves the work he does, or at least the part where the city is saved and there’s momentary peace. But it’s become a thankless job that leaves him too tired for a proper dating life.
Maybe he’d be less jaded if he didn’t have to pick up the slack for omegas when they drop everything for heat-related paid time off. It may not be their fault, but why does being a beta have to mean more work?
And on top of that, his rival-turned-mission partner is an alpha who keeps him at a cold distance due to their social dynamic. Atsushi often wonders if it’ll always be this strained between them.
When Atsushi feels at his lowest, a fantasy catches him off guard. One where he gets to call out of work for suddenly presenting as an omega in heat — could Atsushi’s annoyance towards omegas actually be jealousy?
As he goes down a rabbit hole of the alluring world of omegas and alphas, he can’t help but wonder if he could fake being a late bloomer for paid time off. And if he pulls it off, can he sleep with the consequences that come?

He whips around, instinctively raising his fists, to see-
Another boy. Younger than him, he thinks. His hair is uneven, his clothes ragged and torn, just like everyone trapped here. His eyes look tired, despite their wideness at the sight of him.
They’re striking nonetheless - a combination of purple and yellow, reminding Ryuunosuke of a sunset.
“Who are you?” the boy demands, startling Ryuunosuke from his thoughts. His tone is defensive, and so is his stance, the book that was open in his lap now held up as if it were a shield in spite of its fragility.
“My name is Ryuunosuke,” he answers after a moment of consideration.In the BEAST universe, Ryuunosuke ends up in the same orphanage as Atsushi. This changes everything.
