Summary
Dinner ends up being a harrowing affair for Jiang Cheng. As if the anticipation simmering in her gut from Wei Wuxian’s earlier words wasn’t enough, she has to struggle to keep up with the conversation as Wei Wuxian secretly runs a foot up her calf or lays a hand on her knee. It’s not as though they don’t regularly get up to things in their own apartment, but it’s much different here, in their childhood home where they shared all their fumbling firsts, with Wei Wuxian squeezing her knee under the table right in front of Jiang Cheng’s parents, who still have no idea of the exact sort of relationship between the two.
Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng return to the Jiang house for winter break, and it stirs up certain memories and feelings.

Dr. Nie Mingjue, one of the leading cardiovascular surgeons of the region, the middle-aged man with a body of steel and salt-and-pepper hair, was the one leading Huaisang around the shelf with all of the boxes of white or blue latex gloves. He was the one using all that sexy muscle mass to press Huaisang's soft, chubby little frame up against the shelves, chest to chest but nowhere near eye to eye.
(Huaisang and his boss/fwb/maybe lover Dr. Nie Mingjue fuck in a storage closet to de-stress after a surgery. They almost get caught, not that that would ever stop Dr. Nie.)

And just like that Buck finds himself nodding along. Because of course. She’s right– not about her being what Eddie needs, because Buck is pretty certain that’s never going to be the case– but about Eddie. Eddie absolutely deserves every good thing in this world. It makes complete sense that Kim would at least try to help with that.
Who would meet Eddie and not want to give him the world?
It’s what Buck would do, after all.
