As his fingers grip the cold handle of his blade, his arm raised over his head, the other hand holding onto Leclerc’s shoulder, about to drive his silver blade into the tan skin—that’s when he notices an unusually familiar mark glinting at him—as if mocking him. Max swallows harshly, shaking his head; no, that is not possible. It must be a trick of the light, yes, that is it! He resumes, just wanting to be done with this now, raising his arm again—only to find his hands trembling at the action, unable to drive the blade into his target.

His shaking hand pulls the robe apart, properly this time, coming face to face with a very peculiar but exact same mark he has on his inner thigh.
