If you notice, I typically only make Logan make those comments. Patton and Roman are aware of it, sure, but it's never something they're bothered by (They're real in the mindscape and feel real things, so who cares?). Virgil can relate to Logan more than the other two can, but he's personally passed the phase of caring so much about the fact. (He even used it to his advantage in TAOBH to hide his feelings for Roman!)
I'm glad you noticed that Roman's first appearance was him ready to not only fight, but protect Patton. Roman is going to be interesting to write in this fic, as his arc doesn't come until after Patton and Logan's. He's obviously not the kind of man who wants to wait on the sidelines - he rushes in, sword in hand, ready to fight! So why does it take so long? Roman may have mixed feelings about Virgil, but he doesn't hate him anymore, and his immense guilt should drive him to help, right? The problem is, that same guilt is what's making him hold back.
It's important to note that Patton knows and still feels that Thomas is their number one priority, but Patton also knows if you go in helping Virgil just for the sake of Thomas, then that's not going to help at all. The last sentence in this first chapter holds the entire structure of this fic: Virgil needs more than just acceptance, just a voice to be heard at the debating table.
You're gonna probably find a lot of similarities to TAOBH (even their names are kinda similar!). They both have the same idea of exploring the sides and their growth, but hopefully with the lens on Virgil and healing, it'll be plenty different.
Thank you so much for the long comment, they make me VERY excited to write!
