Summary
Boring man, boring job, boring life. It seemed the picture that he was perfectly content to present, even when his eyes slid up occasionally from his work and pinned themselves not quite heavily on Will Graham before returning quickly to the page, laying out lines in his precise, measured handwriting in the many ledgers of his father's many books. He could somehow keep the lines from crossing, and keep everything neat on paper, everything arranged just so.
It might be the very uniformity of the tidiness that calls Will's attention to it, that wakes his desire to pull one string free and see how far it unravels.
Gently.

Summary
Tonight, Will is in synchronization with it, the music hums his nerves alive, galloping and sharp. It is not Wagner, which he might have appreciated today, but it is Mozart, and it is apt. He leaves pleased, after watching Don Giovanni fail to recant his sins even when the depths of hell reached up to claim him.
And then he returns to face his own animate statue, finding his father's accountant asleep politely where he belongs, within the guest bedroom.
More Reverse Nice-Work. Will claims his conquest, blissfully unaware of the hole he's digging himself into.

Summary
"I will give you what you wanted, but never allowed yourself," Hannibal tells him, tone low, before pressing his mouth against Will's temple, drawing his thumb over the boy's open, panting lips. "I'll give you what you've been reaching for, and a freedom from the restriction on enjoying it."
You can only be a brat for so long before someone puts you in your place.

Summary
The crop ostensibly is in Hannibal’s possession for the horses - there are four, two thick draft horses that Hannibal has some special affection for, two fine riding horses. William supposes that is the excuse for the stout bamboo rod wrapped in handsome leather, the flicking lash on the end that catches his eye.
But in riding or leading, in tending or care, he has never seen Hannibal carry the whip, not for the horses.
It is then, he can infer, solely for his correction.
In which Will begins to feel the real effects of his training and Hannibal enjoys every second of watching him struggle. Laundry list of kinks, for which we aren't sorry.

Summary
Will chews his lip, considers. Nothing Hannibal has ever done to him for his own pleasure has been detestable or unbearable. His punishments were appropriately humiliating, occasionally cruel, but they were punishments, they drove a message home that Will, despite his utter reluctance to admit it out loud, remembers and learns. But Hannibal’s pleasure, his Master’s pleasure, is never cruelly taken.
Will counts 84 leaves before the wind shifts them, before the shadows fade with the coming of morning, and Will finds himself almost vibrating with energy at the thought of fulfilling his own desire by fulfilling Hannibal’s.
He refuses to let himself linger on the thought.
Stage One Pornado. Will makes a bid for what he wants. More to come, get your galoshes out, it'll be a heck of a storm.

Summary
When they step outside, they walk in stride, and at a fairly quick pace, to their hotel. Will’s hand keeps coming up to rub his neck, feeling almost naked without the collar there, in its familiar weight. But he had been permitted to remove it and travel unrestrained by its obligations.
Trust.
A huge measure of trust that Will doesn’t know how to thank Hannibal for, or whether he even should. His freedom should never have been dictated by a strip of leather, should never have restrained him so. And yet, now, without it, Will feels at a loss. If he runs, he has no money, he has no name but the one on his false passport, no family anywhere but in jail or dead.
He has Hannibal.
Stage Two Pornado. A promise made good. Will gets a new suit, and earns it.

Summary
Will’s heart pounds like a train over old rails, unending and unrelenting and he can’t slow it down if he tries. And he’s tried, with calming breaths and a casual stance. Nothing about his entire demeanor shows any sign of his internal struggle. To contain all this, to allow this to be just another simple visit to the opera.
Christ’s sake, he’s been to many.
But this… the sound, the indescribable tension, resolution, volume of the entire performance fills his to the brim and bleeds out over.
