Summary
"So what is your badass, genius girlfriend up to?" Stiles asks, yawning into his hand.
Scott smiles in a way that lights up in his eyes, "She's with your boyfriend, holding the retractor while he saves the life of a 9 year-old, generally being a goddess and flawless."
"Derek is not my boyfriend!" Stiles argues, his voice rising in the empty hallway. A janitor pops his head out of an empty patient room and glares at them. "He's a boy-shaped person who backs me into the walls of on-call rooms and stairwells. I don't even know what his middle name is."

Summary
"There you are. I thought you'd quit. Or died. Or quit and then died from the shame of having to quit." Lydia rambles. She does that when she's had too much coffee. It's pretty much the only time she's unflappable. "Where have you been?"
"Oh me." Stiles says, shrugging. "I was checking up on my patients. And then I had labs to run."
Lydia pins him with a look, one eyebrow raised. She points with the pen in her hand at the bulletin board behind where there are fliers for activities and seminars in the hospital, and now a very charming photo of one Dr. Stiles Stilinski passed out on the floor of the scrub room.
"Oh for the love of--" Stiles moans, marching over to the bulletin board to pull it down.
"Don't you dare." Lydia commands. "That's the best motivation we've had all day. And I think it'll keep you from taking any ill advised naps in the future."
"I didn't." Stiles argues, feeling his heart beating rather shallowly and quickly when he presses his hand to his neck. "I just closed my eyes for a second."
"Yeah." Lydia says, rolling her eyes. "Just long enough for the Chief to find you. How do you think this reflects on me as a physician?"

His face is scrunched up, eyebrows drawn together in anger, and his checks are flushed red. He runs a hand across his shorn dark hair in frustration.

Summary
The only thing that seems to stem the panic in Stiles is for Derek to pin him an annoyed look. And with all of the blood dripping from his nose and the tampon he’s trying to cut in half to stem the flow, it’s enough to shock Stiles back into laughing hysterically.
“You’re the worst.” Derek says. But he’s a guy standing in an immaculate bathroom with ripped abs like he belongs in Fight Club and he’s about to shove two halves of a tampon up his nose so it’s hard to take him seriously. “Forget everything about earlier. You have an awful bedside manner.”
That seems stop Stiles' laughing. He takes the scissors from Derek, deftly cuts the tampon they found in the medicine cupboard in half and promptly shoves both halves up Derek’s nose in the span on about two seconds.
“OW!” Derek yells, batting at Stiles’ hands.
“I handle emergencies with grace under pressure.” Stiles shoots back, washing his hands in Derek’s fancy sink that he still doesn’t fully understand. “I’m a kickass doctor.”

Summary
“I’m fine.” Stiles answers firmly. Years of guidance counselors and well-meaning RAs have trained him in the art of deceiving people into making them think he’s a totally normal person.
The I’m fine is typically the answer everyone gives when things are totally not fine.
“If you say so.” Derek answers. And Stiles is incredibly happy that Derek’s giving him this out.
If they keep talking in these short, half formed sentences, Stiles is going to die from mortification. So instead of answering, he just shrugs on his lab coat and goes to find his roomie so that he can get some sleep in his actual bed for once.
