Summary
Feel free to skip this little intro and go on to the next work in this series, where Chapter 1 is. But this does include some info on how this whole thing is set up, since it's a little strange and I don't want to confuse people.
If you want more info on trigger warnings for each chapter please follow the link in the notes of each chapter to my tumblr post that goes into more explanation.
I worry sometimes that this thing might get too heavy in places, but in the end, it is a fix-it. It is about healing. Just being very open and real about how messy that process can be.
------
Might put new "chapters" here if there are future updates of this kind of... I guess housekeeping? I literally am incapable of doing things without making them complicated...

Summary
They had tiptoed around each other from the first moment they fought side by side.
Long before the nightmare and the quiet confessions, they had paced a cautious, hesitant dance.
But they weren't oblivious to this thing between them.
They each chose to ignore it, for the other's sake. So they said.

Summary
The screaming was too close to be coming from Ironwood’s office or personal quarters, or even from the shared rooms where the kids were staying, on the other side of the main hallway.
Clover’s chest seized up for just a moment, as he registered where exactly it was. Down the corridor, just beyond the Ace Ops’ special private quarters, towards the general private rooms.
And there was only one person currently staying there.
--
And right then, they saw the way Clover was darting his eyes back to Qrow, how worried he was. They saw how much he truly cared about their uncle. And despite how concerned — and as much as he was trying to hide it, nervous — Clover was, the girls could tell that he truly thought he could help. He wanted to help.--
But the light was gone just as suddenly as it appeared, and Qrow was still there. Somehow even the dark remained overwhelming. Whether in presence or absence, he didn’t know how to handle being part of the overbearing existence around him.Qrow could barely hear a quiet voice coming closer to him. It was gentle, safe — and some warm, twisting, calming thing in his gut told him to listen to it, told him to let it soothe him.

Summary
But when he looked back at his partner, Clover nearly lost that control all over again.
This time, it wasn’t the hope of what Qrow might feel for him that left Clover reeling.
Rather, it was the further understanding, the full acceptance, of just how firmly Qrow had managed to plant himself in Clover’s own heart.
--------------The smile he offered to Clover then was nothing grand. It was small and meek, lips trembling ever so faintly, his eyes still heavy with an exhausted daze. It was all he could manage at that moment, so he tried, even in its meagerness, to make it clear.
Clover couldn’t deny anything while facing that smile. He might not be able to speak the words —to prove them to the beautiful, magnificent man sitting before him— but there was no ignoring the thundering certainty within his chest.
------------
Clover’s voice was still so soft and gentle, so oblivious.Want.
If Qrow didn’t want him to touch him.
Couldn’t Clover see why that was exactly the problem?

Summary
When Qrow woke up, screaming, from the nightmare scene of the tundra snow red with blood, he was already spiraling into a full blown panic attack. And then Clover was there comforting him. After that night Clover had stopped by Qrow's room every night before bed, checking that he was alright. Those nightly visits had slowly seen them grow closer and closer and eventually they felt comfortable with the idea that this was real, they were dating. There would be issues to work through, but they would get to those as they came. And they'd promised to be honest with each other about when they were struggling.
Then, a little over a week ago, Clover realized something during a briefing, as he really looked at the calendar on his scroll for the first time in a while. He’d been letting the days blur together a little, enjoying the routine of things with Qrow. He knew of course what month it was, but it hadn’t really registered until then what that meant. So by the time he noticed, there was barely a week until Valentine’s day.
(Sitting in scripting and utterly unable to write a good synopsis)
