"You promise?" Margo asked. Peter felt as though the girl's whole world was riding on his answer to that question.
"I promise," he answered.
"We both do," M.J. added, flashing a smile of her own at the girl.
"Pinkie promise?" the girl said, holding out her pinkie towards M.J, who promptly wrapped it with her own pinkie.
"Pinkie promise," M.J. affirmed. Peter then took the girl's finger and wrapped it in his own, also solidifying what was the highest level of promise to children everywhere.

Summary
Taking off his mask and discarding it near the closet, Peter walked out of the bedroom towards the living room. His spider-sense wasn't going off, so there was not likely to be any danger, which helped to put his mind at ease somewhat. He rounded the corner of the small hallway to find the living room empty, but a few steps more brought the kitchen into view, and that's where he found her, standing in the middle of it, holding a glass of water. However, his enhanced vision could tell even in the dark that she was clutching her stomach, which was never a good indicator.

"Oh yeah," Peter said as he completed his webbed wrapping of Electro. "What's the latest on that one?"
"Unfortunately still the same," M.J. said, her voice quiet and sober. "However, I learned something interesting about him today."
"And just what might that be?" Peter asked, firing a web and swinging away from the site of the battle.
"He's a Spider-Man fan," M.J. responded. "Like, self-proclaimed number 1 Spider-Man fan."
It didn't take but barely a second for Peter's mind to connect the dots as to where this conversation was going.
