Summary
Back on Kamino, one wrong move, one slip-up could result in death. Here on Coruscant, Rex had lulled himself into a false sense of security. It had all just been so nice, so easy.
He should have known it wasn't meant to last. And he should've known that he would be the one to ultimately kriff it all up in some sort of way…
As the new captain of the 501st, Rex finds the easiest way to ensure he won’t screw everything up is to be as perfect as humanly possible. If he had learned anything on Kamino, it was that defects like him were always toeing the line of death in one way or another, so he strives to be the perfect soldier.
It takes intervention from Anakin to remind the tortured captain that Coruscant is a far different place than Kamino.

Summary
The pain that had begun to well up in Rex’s chest suddenly became unbearable and he curled in on himself, a feeble defense against the cold. Against the memories. “I…” He said before Anakin could take another turn—and he wondered when exactly Skywalker had become Anakin. “I-I don’t want to play this game anymore, sir.”
Crashed on a frozen planet, Rex and Anakin have a very enlightening conversation as they fend off against the cold, and Rex learns a few surprising things about his general—and himself.

Summary
Kix and the rest of his batch hadn't been with the 501st for very long—hadn't been off Kamino for very long—and there were certain things they were all still figuring out about the world.
The galaxy, which was way bigger and way more complex than the longnecks had ever led them to believe. Like holonovels, for one, and holovids. Why didn't anyone tell them that there were things like that out there created purely for enjoyment and not just for training?
Or, a series of one-shots featuring curious (and sometimes oblivious) clones as they discover all the things they never had on Kamino—and realize just how sheltered and closed-off they’d been on that rain-soaked planet.

Summary
"I'm only saying that there's a chance none of us will be around—or even be together—for this holiday. Just…” Cody heaved a sigh. “… Be prepared for that."
"Well, I don't care if I'm around or not," Wolffe countered. "I'm putting up my damn decorations tomorrow.”
As his brothers bantered, Rex couldn't shake the feeling of impending doom.
Because Fives and Echo had probably already told Jesse. Kix and Hardcase would find out sooner than later if Jesse had anything to say about it, and word of Life Day would spread throughout the 501st like a wildfire on Kashyyyk.
And they would all get excited about it, each and every one of them… Only to be called back to the front mere days before the actual event with no hope of making it home in time for kriffing Life Day…
When the first Life Day of the war comes around, Rex finds himself conflicted about the holiday season.
Despite the fact that Anakin is determined to make it the best celebration the 501st has ever experienced, Rex can’t shake the heavy feeling that something is about to happen that will ruin it all.
Because clones were designed for war, not fun everyday-life things like holidays…

Summary
"I thought you were supposed to stay put until someone finds you," Fives said, rising with more than a little difficulty.
"That's only if you're lost."
"Which, we are."
"We're not lost, Fives," Rex snapped. "We know exactly where we are and what we need to do to get back home. And what we need to do is find General Skywalker."Lost on the lower levels of Coruscant after a mission gone wrong, Rex and Fives are determined to rescue their general, despite their own injuries. As they journey deeper into the madness of Level 966, Rex begins to realize that Anakin isn’t the only who might need rescuing...

Summary
With one hand clutching at his chest and willing the tight band around it to release, Fives grabbed hold of Rex's wrist and squeezed.
"C-Captain, I can't…" He might as well have stopped sucking in breaths for all the good it was doing. Wasting energy, wasting… Air. He needed—"Breathe. Rex, I-I can't… can't breathe!" The last word barely escaped past lips that felt like they were a size or two larger than normal.
While acting as security for a diplomatic mission, Fives discovers a hidden allergy to the planet’s cuisine. It takes several reassurances from Rex to help him to get past the Kaminoans’ conditioning and every clone’s inbred fear of being decommissioned.

Summary
Rex only had the half second between Fives readying his fist and letting it collide with a nearby control panel to make his decision.
Adrenaline still pumping through his veins, he grabbed Fives' arm once more, stopping him before he could damage the panel and slammed him against the wall. The dull thud of the back of Fives' head hitting the durasteel clearly surprised his brother and his eyes widened for a second before narrowing on Rex.
"You want someone to fight?" Rex said before Fives could even get a word out. "Fight me."
After the Citadel, Rex and Fives struggle to cope with the loss of Echo. Rex quickly discovers that they both have far different coping methods…

Summary
“Then why don't you save us both the headache and turn it off?"
Wolffe just nodded at the helmet. "I had to listen to this, you know. It took nearly the whole trip back to Coruscant."
Raising a brow, Cody fought the urge to facepalm. "And you recorded it, why?"
"So you could hear it, too." A sly grin spread across Wolffe's face. "Aren't you the one who's always saying we should share in each other's sufferings?"
"Wolffe, that’s Bly."
Following the events of the episode “Nomad Droids,” Wolffe returns to Coruscant with a surprise for his closest brothers—one that brings forth numerous headaches, a round of shenanigans, and some unexpected healing.

“Beg me, Clone."
And Rex nearly sputtered, catching himself just in time.
When he didn't reply, Krell took a step closer and repeated himself. "Beg me for their lives, CT-7567."Rex entered the top room of the tower with the intentions of shaking General Krell’s resolve to court-martial two of his closest brothers. He leaves with orders to head up Fives and Jesse’s execution.
Or, an extended scene from Carnage of Krell in which Rex pleads for the lives of his brothers.

Summary
From Kix, it felt different. It was a special kind of hurt, a special kind of ache. Rex would take Jesse's snide quips and back-handed comments over Kix blatantly ignoring him any day.
"Who puts a medic on a firing squad? The words Do No Harm might not mean anything to you, Captain, but they sure still mean a hell of a lot to me!”
The last time he remembered setting foot in the 501st medbay was on the ride back to Coruscant after Umbara. He'd taken one look at Kix's side-long glare from across the room and never went back…
When the events of Umbara creates a rift between Kix and Rex, both seem fine with letting the gap widen. It takes the aftermath of Kadavo to bring both brothers back to their senses.

Summary
Rex stiffened at this, shaking his head. "I'm sure it's just a coincidence. Fives has never been any good at lying. Everyone knows that."
"Okay, sure, but Jesse, too? And you? All within a handful of weeks of each other? Rex, that's not a coincidence." As Rex flexed his fingers again, aborting the motion halfway through, Anakin narrowed his eyes. "And… I think you know that. Don't you?"
Or, Anakin thinks it’s funny that Fives is terrible at lying… until he discovers that Jesse is, too. And Rex. Something about it doesn’t sit right with him, and after bringing his concerns to his captain, Anakin is startled to realize this his suspicions were right…

Summary
“I was the one who did it, and I don’t sleep so well at night thinking about it.”
“Me neither, I keep—!” Rex sucked in a breath, stopping himself before his voice rose too high. “I keep thinking: what if he might’ve lived...?”
Rik sighed. "I’ve got no choice but to keep it from her.”
“So,” Rex said, hating the air of finality coating his tone, “you’ll live your whole life a lie?”
Perhaps he shouldn’t have been surprised when Rik nodded heavily, but he was. Shocked to his very core.
“A lot of people live that way. Only most of them don’t have good reasons like we do..."Too soon after the hell that was Umbara, Rex's only surviving batchmate admits to mercy-killing a Jedi general, thrusting Rex into a desperate struggle against his conscience—a struggle that threatens to drive a stake between his friendship with Fives and destroy everything he once thought to be right.

Summary
This time, when Maul laughed, Rex not only failed to suppress a shiver, he shuddered.
"The Jedi will never see it coming. Absolutely brilliant," Maul muttered. "And that clone, your brother. He, too, was cast aside, wasn't he? Forgotten, as I was…"
"Fives was not forgotten!" Rex snapped, blinking as fast as he could against rivers of tears trailing down his cheeks.
Or, what happens when Rex was captured by Maul instead of Jesse. A minor retelling of “The Phantom Apprentice.”
