When exactly Xue Yang had (1) started having lunch at a regular time, (2) become responsible for preparing Nie Huaisang’s heroin doses, and (3) started doing both thing with truly minimal complaining was a fucking mystery to him. And yet, his traitorous mouth quirked up into a half-smile as he said, “Sure, Huaisang.”

Or, the one where Xue Yang absolutely had no intention of his life going the direction he has, but maybe also it's nice to live in a mansion and have anything he wanted. It made it easier to ignore his multitude of other poor life choices.

“Oh fuck you, I’m not domesticated.” Xue Yang shoots a rude gesture in her direction and spins to return to his previous task of leaving this stupid place.
“Are you happy, Xue Yang?” A-Qing calls after him, laughter in her voice.
