I lean toward him and close my eyes. In my own way, I savor his presence one last time. As he enters the light, I disappear into the shadows. I smile once more. When I opened my eyes, he threw his head back and fixed the ceiling. So I stay a few seconds, I observe him, I take with me this image of him. When his eyes land on me he suddenly looks more confident, more secure, and perhaps more peaceful, just for a moment.
