Summary
Driven by grief, Aether finds himself in an alternate timeline of the Tevyat he's come to know, where he's now the unwilling Abyss Prince. Some things never change however, even across the universe; the Red String of Fate still binds Venti to him.
__“Who are you really, Outlander? You hide in shadows, but your eyes shine with the purest of light. You claim to be a Villain, but to me, you’ve helped me, saved me; you’ve only ever been kind. And though you claimed you hoped Fate would never make us meet again, I’ve found myself bound to you by some sort of otherworldly string no matter where I went. So please, won’t you share your secrets with me? I know you feel it - the strange pull between us two.”
Shocked into silence, Aether could only stare. His fingers stretched across the grass beneath them, nervously tearing the green strands from their roots. Denial flowed from his tongue on instinct, familiar and hushed as it made a feeble attempt to appease the tension between himself and the bard.
“I’m not...I’m not any of that, I’m not who you think I am…”

Summary
In which Fate has funny ways of bringing together its favorite lovers, even if it means altering the course of the story and corrupting a God.
______It was wrong, Venti thought as he played with the fresh Cecilia flowers the other had brought him before his duties called him away. The petals flourished brightly, white and pure as they remained tucked behind his ear where the Abyss Prince had placed them with a smile.
It was wrong, that it still hurt to breathe when Aether was away for too long, that Venti’s heart beat wildly whenever they touched, his senses overwhelmed by an all-consuming bliss that couldn’t be natural, couldn’t be normal.
So, so very wrong the way he made Venti feel whole, the way Venti felt complete. The way that his heart had learned to dread the Abyss Prince leaving even as he anticipated the other’s return, because Aether always returns, Aether always comes back. Aether wouldn’t abandon you, won’t abandon you. He knew it was wrong because sometimes, oftentimes, he could no longer distinguish between the whispers of the seeds inside him and his own thoughts.

Summary
While reluctantly accompanying Lumine on her journey to Liyue upon Aether's request, Venti is once again reminded of one of his greatest fears.

“The corruption.” He continued, as though Aether had never spoken, and despite being the Leader of the Abyss Order, the blond felt helpless to stop the God’s anguish. “The corruption binds me to you. It makes it so I need you no matter what, so I couldn’t live without you even if I didn’t love you, even if I wanted to.” Venti sniffled, sucking in a harsh breath as his voice became little more than a whisper. “..But you don’t have that, do you? You’re not bound to me.”
“..I..I-I..”
“Aether.” The God breathed again, agonized and heartbroken and so desperately in love all at once as he pinned the Abyss Prince in place with his pleading gaze. “What’s going to keep you from leaving my side?”
