It's been two years since Jin Guangyao's scandal and Wei Wuxian's return rocked the cultivation world, and Jiang Cheng is just trying to move on, take care of his sect, and return to normal. At a boring sect meeting he'd give anything to avoid, however, he finds himself having several unexpected run-ins with Lan Xichen, and discovers the two of them have more in common than he could have thought. And, maybe, the both of them could learn a lesson from each other about moving on from the past.

It's been nearly three years since Wei Wuxian's return, and peace has (more or less) settled across the country. It's become almost common knowledge that Sect Leader Jiang and Zewu-Jun are involved romantically, and, for the most part, people are willing to accept it.
Things haven't been exactly peaceful within the Jin sect, however. It's still a struggle for Jin Ling to get his people to respect him. His main reprieve from his worries comes from his friends, especially Lan Sizhui, who he finds himself spending an increasing amount of time with. Their friendship is growing stronger all the time, and it doesn't seem like anything can get in the way. That is, until some rumors about Lan Sizhui's real family comes to light, threatening the tenuous peace built between both major and minor sects.
Can Jin Ling protect his friend without losing respect from his sect? Does Lan Sizhui even want to be protected, if it costs his friend's reputation? Their friendship, and the potential for something more, will be put to the test as arguments rage over what should be done about Lan Sizhui's heritage.Series
