Summary
In which Buck and Eddie are hormonal high schooler's who meet on the wonderful, wonderful website that is Omegle.com and despite all odds, they kick it off. Soon, Eddie begins to successfully crack away at the tough-jock exterior that is Buck's armor, and finds that underneath all the cocky smirks, sarcastic and witty comebacks, there's someone who's way more damaged than both boys ever thought possible.
In a whirlwind of first-times, falling in love, drama in friendships, and all the hardships that being eighteen years old already brings, both Buck and Eddie are about to discover that sometimes in life, you're lucky enough to meet the one person who will stand beside you when everything feels like it's crashing down before your eyes. And sometimes, you meet that person on the internet... against all the odds of that going horribly wrong.

Summary
To the outside world, Evan Buckley has it all; fame, money, loyal bandmates, a revolving door of women ready to jump into bed with him after every show, and a bond with his sister that's stronger than oak. But on the inside, Evan "Buck" Buckley feels like this is all temporary; everything can, and will, be whisked away with just the blink of an eye. Buck is no stranger to struggle, isolation, and the feeling of everything you held dear slipping through your fingers. It's why he lets no one except Maddie and the people from his band, Caught Flames, into his life; to see his heart, that many people think he wears so loosely on his sleeve.
To the outside world, Buck is a lucky, happy man. On the inside, it's much more complicated.
It takes a certain Eddie Diaz to break down Buck's walls with his insight and determination, though.

+
Evan (Buck) Buckley was diagnosed at eighteen with DID. Now being twenty-nine, he is a respected, hard working firefighter at Firehouse 118, and trusted partner to fellow firefighter Eddie Diaz (but really, he's way more than that; and everyone knows it, too).
This is the story of his journey as a man with a heavily stigmatized and misunderstood mental illness, and his fight to prove himself to be just as capable as his colleagues.
However, it takes a certain ex military soldier and his curly-haired son to teach Buck that despite how the world around him wants to ignore and repress the identities who make Evan Buckley who he is, those very identities are nothing to feel shame over; every single one of them will always be Necessary.
