Summary
Dorothea Arnault never wanted to become a soldier enveloped in an all-out war. Skilled though she was, she entered every battle with a dreadful feeling that it may be their last. The Empire is moving towards the Tailtean Plains but have split up to find the most strategic route forward, which leaves her and her dear friend Ferdinand von Aegir to lead a battalion through a dense forest. They press on at a distance in order to scope out surroundings and not lead troops into an ambush, which is exactly what the two run into. However, the man from the Kingdom leading the ambush is one that once held a spot in Dorothea's heart prior to the war. One side has to win. A choice has to be made. One of them will have to die for their cause.
She never wanted to be a soldier.

A partnerfic to Songstress, Soldier. Inspired by justs0meshipper who commented there about Sylvain's POV about the events that occurred in that fic.
The Empire is moving towards the Tailtean Plains but have split up to find the most strategic route forward. Sylvain is a commander in the Kingdom army, awaiting the moment that Empire forces cross his path. His confident façade is slowly cracking under the pressure of Dimitri's demands and sheer emotional exhaustion. His first breaking point had been the loss of a dear childhood friend, and the grief that came with it slowly began to wear on him. Unfortunately, the woman riding up the path towards the Kingdom cavalry is another friend from his academy days. Seeing her again crushes him, and he wrestles with having to hide the pain of confronting her as an enemy and having to coolly command his battalion in an attack on the Empire.
