And when the world finally came into view, hazed over by his teary eyes, Shuuichi Saihara— the fake boy that existed only to carry out a legacy that was far from his own —wanted nothing if not to puke.
A headset, one the belonged to that of a virtual reality simulator, sat carefully in a strangers hands, previously removed from Shuuichi's head.
“The killing game, it was,” the man hesitated, choosing his next words carefully. His eyes held a bittersweet guilt that had eerily mimicked Kaede's before she was executed, “less than real, if that makes any sense.”
“It was a simulation.” the woman behind him finished, and the bile creeped even further up his throat causing the detective (?) to gag.
“W-What?” he hated how weak his voice sounded. “The k-killing game wasn't real?”
“Yeah,” the man smiled, “exactly!”
“Well,” Shuuichi made eye contact with the man in front of him, “it felt pretty fucking real.” And suddenly, he was angry. So very angry.
