At 11 years old, all Kiara wants to do is surf, and possibly in the process befriend those two boys that seem to be constantly hanging out at the beach.
The scruffy blond one especially is so good it shouldn’t be allowed. He moves on his board like he was born on the water, and Kiara can’t help sneaking looks in his direction, mesmerised.
She’s never seen anyone their age surf like he does. In fact, she’s never seen anyone of any age surf like that, period.
Too bad he’s such a little shit.

“Kie, you need a ride home?” John B offers, leaning back from the driver’s seat.
“The reaction is instantaneous, the grip in her stomach. Home. There’s been no time to go over what happened, today, to bring the others up to speed – besides Pope, but Pope is not here. Missing scene in episode 6. After Renfield attacks Heyward in front of his store, Pope goes home for the night with him. The others quietly file inside the Twinkie and drive back to the Chateau. JJ and Kie have a moment, bonding over shitty parents and found family.

They could have bought literally anything they wanted, when the gold came in. A giant camper van, a whole ass tiny house – hell, they could have bought a jet plane if they wanted to. What they ended up settling on was an old, sturdy, late ‘90s Airstream van they found on Craigslist. Converted it themselves, built all the interior features, the tiny kitchenette, the shower room.
They have a big hammock on the back that unhooks easily and doesn’t take up any precious space. On the warm, clear nights they leave the backdoors wide open, swing out the hammock and lay there, watching the stars as they fall asleep.
After the gold comes in, JJ and Kie need to get out from the OBX. It’s finally time for their surf trip.
