Hal's about to leave the Manor after spending a part of the night with Bruce but meets a distressed young Dick Grayson in the hallway.

The kid was glued to him like a koala could be to an eucalyptus, his teary face buried in the hollow of Hal's shoulder.
Hal rocked him a little. What was Bruce doing ? Hal didn't really have a father's instincts.
How old was the boy ? He didn't seem older than Hal himself had been when his own father had died.

"Child." Bruce said, his voice catching a bit in his throat as he looked at the tiny shape in Hal's arms.

How do you explain to a kid that her supposedly dead Dad isn't so and that he'll be there very soon ? How do you connect to your daughter when she doesn't even remember you ? Bruce and Hal will just have to find out.

“We’ve talked about your Dad before. I’ve told you he was far away and couldn’t come back but that he loved you very much, you remember that ?” he asked her.
He doubted she had forgotten. He had told her a lot of stories about Hal and how much he loved her.
“Yes. Dad is in the stars.” Amelia said, nodding.

“Have you ever had your heart broken ?” his daughter asked, doubtful.
“Actually, yes. By your Dad. We were in a relationship about fifteen years before your birth but it just didn’t work out.” Hal told her.
She looked at him curiously and a bit defiantly. She didn't know if she could trust him. Hal's heart broke a little bit.
“How was it Dad’s fault ?” the teenager asked.

Clark wasn’t using codenames. Bruce knew the line was secure but frowned. Apparently, Clark’s calls had been personal and not professional and Bruce had no idea what would make the reporter call him so often in the space of two hours.
“Can it wait ? Amelia is at Leslie’s clinic. I’ll explain -” Bruce said.
“What happened ? Is she okay ?”
That voice. Bruce paused. It couldn’t be. The man had been declared dead more than ten years ago.
