Summary
At some point, the lantern starts to flicker. There's a pause in their affections, two pairs of eyes darting to the shadows that jump across stone with each twitch of the flame. Something about that light is an anchor. It makes them human, makes the form of their bodies undeniable.
Wilbur reaches over and presses his thumb and pointer finger around the wick. There's a brief sting in his fingertips, then darkness.
They breathe, and resume.
