An alien is standing in the hallway. That's not the surprising part. The alien is taller than him, black hair streaked with red cascading like a waterfall down around his broad shoulders. That’s not the surprising part either. The alien’s features are strange—narrow face, pointed nose, sharp, winged eyebrows, sharp canines revealed in a wide smile—but also familiar. Lan Wangji has seen those features before, only the last time he did, they looked entirely human, and that—that’s surprising.
“Wei Ying?” he says.
