The McGruff boys laughed as they rolled Harlen out of the truck. The three billy goat McGruffs loved their pranks and as the bleating laughter faded, drowned out by the truck's engine, Harlen gingerly rolled himself to his feet and assessed his surroundings. The McGruff brothers had dumped him on the wrong side of the tracks, the Predator side of the tracks.
And it was almost sunset.
Harlen quieted the panic in his head, his chest, and his stomach. He knew, better than some Prey, what could happen to a Rabbit who found himself outside after nightfall.

Each step made the blood pulse wetly from between his fingers. Kalan’s pants were soaked in his own blood as it sluggishly trailed down the tops and insides of his thighs and dripped off the hem of the material. Marcus was right. He was bleeding to death.
Maybe that wasn’t as bad as it sounded.
Kalan shook his head. No, he had responsibilities. Who was going to care for his Da if he wasn’t around?
