Summary
Kitty McKinnon has been going through the motions for some time... and the motions aren’t all that bad. She’s an Auror of some renown at the Ministry of Magic, up for Head Auror—a position that would do her mentor Mad-Eye and her late aunt Marlene proud. But a couple of disastrous things happen over the summer of 1993. First, her former best friend—the one who murdered all her other friends—escapes from Azkaban. Then, her ex-boyfriend—the one whose heart she’s pretty sure she broke—starts teaching at Hogwarts. Now Kitty is in charge of the Ministry’s investigation to capture Sirius Black, but she’s spending most days throwing up in the toilets.
Meanwhile: Remus Lupin knew that teaching at Hogwarts was going to be an emotional minefield, especially with Sirius on the loose. But what he didn’t bargain for was his famous ex-girlfriend re-entering his life after an 11-year absence. She says she wants to be friends, but Remus has a good idea where that’s going to lead him.
Canon-divergent (a fifth, female Marauder, everything else compliant) version of the Prisoner of Azkaban school year, from the perspective of Remus Lupin and an OFC.

One Friday night at the Leaky Cauldron, two months in, she made a pass at him. It was cheeky and direct, in typical Tonks fashion. No hard feelings either way. Anyway they were both drunk, and the Cauldron was closing for the night, and he understood that it wasn’t necessarily personal. Which was maybe why he started to explain to her, with uncharacteristic honesty, that he mostly liked boys…

Simon Wong has always felt like life was rushing away from him like a river, out of his control. He’s the London-born son of Muggle Hong Kong immigrants—and he’s queer, to boot. But this week it all changes. This week Simon (and his best friend, Tonks) begin their careers in the Ministry of Magic’s Auror office. And that means that Simon is finally a bona-fide magical adult. Brave. Confident. In charge. Right?
Actually, not so right. Between office bullies, a crap first assignment and an increasingly distant Tonks, the start of Simon’s Auror career isn’t exactly following the script in his head.
