Summary
James Grim is a vampire who is employed by the Vatican to hunt his brethren, wherever they prey on humans. Sebastian is a young shape shifter - the only one of his kind so far as he knows - who has used his charm and persistence to worm his way into James' heart, and also to become his apprentice. Over the stories, the two have become lovers, though James often has to struggle against his nature in order to keep Sebastian safe from his appetites.
In this, the 5th instalment of the Hunter Grim series, a Vatican agent comes to James and Sebastian with orders to investigate a vampire infestation within the Paris Opera house. The 'Opera Ghost' is holding the actors and the management hostage, forcing them to perform to his exact specifications. But surely the ghost is actually a vampire. In fact, the truth is even deeper, and James and Sebastian delve into the catacombs beneath the opera house to discover a tale of corruption and greed, and of love that supersedes death.
