Summary
He turns, and in the Earth's sunlight, he sees the lanky form of Julian Bashir running down the tree-lined street looking surprised but thrilled. Even through the numbness, Bashir’s unfeigned joy at seeing him warms him.
Garak inclines his head. “So it seems, Doctor.” He sighs a bit bitterly before continuing, “We live in even more uncertain times than even I could have predicted.”
Or: Elim Garak has found himself exiled for a second time.
(A prequel to my other fic The Family Next Door, but you do not need to read that to understand this!)

Summary
"My dear,” Garak says, “I know the man I married. I should never have expected you to do a thing differently. We will get out of this.”
“Oh?” Julian says, wandering right into Garak’s arms. “Have I finally made you an optimist?”
Garak laughs a little, “no. But, darling, even on my worst day, Section 31 could not compete with the Obsidian Order. And today is far from my worst day.”
Or: Section 31 never fully disappeared. Luckily, this family of mostly retired war heroes and three teenagers is on the case. What could possibly go wrong?
(This fic will be published on a weekly basis, I've written about half of it so be not afraid of abandonment)
