Jacob Portman has a strange peculiarity, that much is certain. But why not make it stranger?

My AU: Jacob is a bit more of a 'soul librarian' and can tell if someone is peculiar or not by looking at their eyes and seeing if they have that extra bit of soul that all peculiars are known to have -- as such, he can also recognize wights even if they're wearing contacts by seeing if they're missing that bit of soul. The series does involve some head canons regarding wights, hollows, and peculiarkind, and it also diverges pretty heavily from canon the farther on it goes.

Also, eldritch horrors. They're important.
