Summary
That little hint of an accent never really did anything for Deuce, though. He’d had far more embarrassing, revealing reactions to Ace’s different tones over the years, but he’d long gotten used to the trace accent. But if he imagined Ace with a heavier accent, or speaking another language, this island’s language springing to mind purely from his recent exposure to it—the imagined purr of a whisper in his ear sent a shiver down his spine, and he barely stopped himself from visibly shivering as well.
Anna smirked at him, wide and self-satisfied, clearly reading him better than he would really like, and Kimi stuck her tongue out at him, slapping a handful of berri onto the bartop for whatever penalty losing the argument left her, grumbling to herself all the while.
"Thinking of Ace talking pretty to you, Baby Doc?" Anna asked, sipping victoriously at the cocktail that was slid her way. "Maybe we should pull him aside with that dictionary, teach him a few phrases. Gemm, any sign of something along the lines of 'Let me take you up against the nearest wall, my dearest darlingest love'...?"

Summary
"This is nice, right?" he asked, voice pitched low, but he was close enough for Deuce to still hear the murmured question, breath ghosting against his ear and neck.
"Better than the shows the crew usually puts on," Deuce said, thick around the choking urge to kiss Ace again. His partner laughed softly, tilting his head to cast a glance toward the front of the bar, where the tables were a little more crowded and the woman was still singing, though the tune was different and Deuce couldn’t really remember when the song changed.
"That's true," Ace admitted, grinning when he looked back at Deuce, the expression shifting into more of a smirk when their eyes met. "I was more thinking the dark corner and no one recognizing us, though."

Summary
"This okay? Or should I let you sleep?"
"You're asking now?" Deuce asked, arching an eyebrow but not able to bite back a smile, feeling color rise in his cheeks against his will. Ace snorted, giving him a sheepish smile as he leaned down to brush their noses together briefly.
"Couldn't help it, you're too pretty."
His face burned, and he rolled his eyes, turning his face back toward his pillow like it would somehow stop Ace from seeing the increasing blush. Ace laughed, breath ghosting against his cheek as he pressed kisses to his cheekbone, along the space where the lower edge of his mask usually covered, tracing the highest point of his blush.
"Well, you are," he said, smiling when Deuce narrowed his eyes at him threateningly. “All relaxed, no mask. Especially after the last few days.”
A suggestive eyebrow waggle, and he snorted, tugging on Ace’s hair sharply in retribution. “I seem to recall having my mask off when we actually made it back to the ship.”
“Oh, sure,” Ace agreed easily, shifting to mouth along Deuce’s jaw instead. “But then you were wearing my hat, and while that was very hot, it’s nice seeing you relaxed like this in nothing at all.”
