A repository for my Modern AU Bagginshield fics. They are only loosely related and should not be considered a canonical series.
The basic premise is from the "Wall Street AU that will never be", in which Thorin's family was once the owner of an Icelandic mining company known as Erebor Industries. Twenty years ago, FireDrake Consulting executed a hostile takeover that took the company from Thorin's family, who had owned it for generations. Since then they have been attempting through legal action to prove that the takeover was based on fraud, unsuccessfully.
This all changes when Dr. Gandalf Grey proposes that he find Thorin a hacker, who can break into the FireDrake Industry records and prove the fraud as well as restore the Arkenstone Ledger, the record of the company's assets which went missing during the takeover and can prove unequivocally the true value of the company. What he finds is Bilbo Baggins, a gentleman of leisure and rare book enthusiast living just outside Oxford.
From there the story would follow the events of "The Hobbit" more or less step for step, with an Everyone Lives AU ending.
