Summary
Binx, feeling sorry for Major (formerly Captain) Hob, decides to use her tactical ability for more mischievous means. Despite being a fairy of lost things, she will ensure that the Major and his secret admiration, Delloso de la Rue, find each other.
--
"The nature of his passion is not demanding, nor selfish, and a part of him, an integral, although well hidden, part of Hob, is joyous with the offering already freely given. This noble and un-goblin fraction of Hob would not dare ask any more charity from the dearest Rue, content with the gift of one perfect night. A night where Hob was more than just a goblin; where Hob was instead the jewel in the eye of his most beloved companion[…]
[...]yet, dissimilarly to the gentle virtue and sacrifice within the underlying affections, the portion that guards these treasured flashes of nostalgia is the utmost goblin part of Major K.P. Hob. This secret character, hidden by layers and layers of self-reproach, is greedy, jealous, and hedonistic."

Summary
Hob rebels against the Goblin Court. For how could he stand his betrothal in the wake of Rue's confession?
--
"[...] It would be a mockery to sustain this pretence of unfelt allegiance. I once may have sworn fealty to your court, but that was many aeons ago. Goblins are nothing if not fickle creatures... But what I feel, I-… What I feel is not something that can be equaled. Not by you, not by anyone.” Hob does not intend to let so much slip from his, usually, tight control as he begins his rant, but the overwhelming swell of his own emotion pulls from him his honesty. The truth—as it often does—finds its way from the depths of the most guarded recesses of Hob’s mind, stumbling out of his mouth in impassioned speech.
